If you haven't been to a beer tasting and a movie at Clintonville's Studio 35 yet, you really need to.

This may have been one of the most fun events I've been to in a long time. The tasting was great, featuring 10 of Columbus Brewing Company's beers, including some rarely seen ones.  Brewmaster Eric Bean was there to talk everyone through the samples, and I've listed some of the highlights and news from CBC after the jump.

The winners list for the 2010 World Beer Cup has been published, and I just love looking over these things to see who's winning medals.

There's a bunch of beers and breweries on here that I've neverheard of (read more to keep an eye out for when shopping) and I think that signifies the high quality of the many small breweries in the U.S. and abroad.  Was really glad to see Goose Island win quite a few medals and several breweries up in neighboring Michigan medaled as well.

And yes, I did chuckle a bit to see "Mickey's Malt Liquor" as the silver medalist and the famed "Colt 45" as the bronze medalist in the American-Style Specialty Lager category.  Maybe Lando Calrissian was a judge.  I hope the rest of the world doesn't think this is what American beer consists of.  Congrats to all the winners.

Ohio State men's basketball player Mark Titus has been "honored" with a special beer from Oval Brewing Company.  More details on the brew here: http://news.draftmag.com/2010/04/05/im-a-vaguely-famous-blogger-and-all-i-got-was-this-sweet-beer/

This also links to Titus' blog, which is worth a read if you follow the Buckeyes at all.  Interesting perspective and some witty writing.
